Department of Botany

Botany is a branch of biological science that deals with the study of plants. Botany studies the structure, growth, reproduction, metabolism, development, diseases and chemical properties and evolutionary relationships between different groups of plants. It has studied more than three hundred thousand species of plants, ranging from ground mosses to giant trees. Botany as a career is considered best for those people who have a fascination for nature and plants.

A botanist plays an important role in modern science and industry. Botanical studies have helped in the development of many drugs and drugs that are extracted from plants and are actually helpful in fighting many diseases. It also help in the production of  plants which provide natural raw materials like cotton, rubber, paper, silk, vegetable, oils etc. In such a circumstances, if you want to understand it deeply by staying close to nature, then you can see a bright future in botany .

It includes the study of organisms that have inhabited our planet. An important part of geology is the study of how Earth's materials, structures, processes and organisms have changed over time . At Present there are 25 students in our department.

Professionalism Innovativenes

Respect for and protection of the environment Freedom of thought beyond the lab.

Lack of permanent faculty.

lack of laboratory equipment & infrastructure. Shortage of books in the library for reference.

Many students come from rural area and the academic background of the student is not up to their levels.

Many students cannot even afford excursion trips frequently, due to financial problems.

Geologists work in a variety of settings. These include: natural resource companies, environmental consulting companies, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and universities. Many geologists do field work at least part of the time. Others spend their time in laboratories, classrooms or offices. All geologists prepare reports, do calculations and use computers.Although a bachelor's degree is required for entry-level employment, many geologists earn master's and/or doctorate degrees. The advanced degrees provide a higher level of training, often in a geology speciality area such as paleontology, mineralogy, hydrology, or volcanology. Advanced degrees will often qualify the geologist for supervisory positions, research assignments, or teaching positions at the university level. These are some of the most sought-after jobs in the field of geology.Employment opportunities for geologists are very good. Most geology graduates with a strong academic background and good grades have no trouble finding employment if they are willing to move to a location where work is available Some job options are given below:

Jobs directly related to your degree include: Engineering geologist

Geochemist Geophysicist Geoscientist Geotechnical engineer Hydrogeologist Mudlogger

Wellsite geologist

Jobs where your degree would be useful include: Drilling engineer

Environmental consultant Environmental engineer Minerals surveyor Sustainability consultant

Lack of awareness about the subject in the society.

The department strives to foster an environment in which students learn to think, conduct research, apply knowledge, and achieve success in a diverse and changing global economy.

We will lead research in the areas of Earth science that directly relate to societal challenges of the 21st century, including water, energy, natural hazards, natural resources, climate, life, land use, and soils.

The department of geology seeks to advance the understanding of Earth as a system, its resources, and environment, for the lasting benefit of humankind. Combining innovative research with educational experiences, we work to train future generations of geoscience leaders.
